Science at the IMAX Theater

My husband took a vacation day today. He tries to do this every so often so that we can do something fun as a family away from the crowds on the weekend. Wednesday is normally science day at our homeschool house so today we travelled to the big city to the 3D IMAX Theater. Can I just tell you how much fun this was. I haven't been to a 3D movie in years. I was used to the little paper glasses-you know the ones-one red lens, one blue lens.
Here's the thing. I don't go to movies alot at all. Not because I don't like movies but because I find them totally gross. The seats are nasty and my feet stuck to the floor so bad I was pretty sure that I was going to have to leave my shoes behind. Usually, I just wait for the DVD to come out but every once in a while we like to treat the kids. I am just sure to pack the Purell in my pocketbook.
We watched Under the Sea. Total facinating and the underwater photography was very cool.
Here's a picture looking out of the mall window onto the river. It was raining and cloudy today.

The seals coming up to the camera lens were just the cutest thing. At one point it even seemed like they kissed you when they came right up to the camera lens.

Me and the kids looking dorky in our 3D glasses. And yes, we did bring our glasses home. I have no idea what we will do with them. Maybe American Idol or Ghost Hunters will be in 3D on my TV at some point. Maybe not.

The dorky husband and kids.

After we saw the movie, we took the kids and bought everyone new sneakers. Everyone has been complaining that their feet hurt. Why do their feet have to grow faster than the shoes can be worn out? We had some lovely dinner at The Cheesecake Factory since I've been holding onto a $50 gift card for like three years. They have the best cheesecake-I'll be eating my Tiramisu cheesecake tonight as I watch the season premiere of Ghost Hunters and tape American Idol. Or maybe I'll watch American Idol with the kids and tape Ghost Hunters.

When we came home their was a big package on our doorstep. The rest of the kids curriculum purchases have come in. Morgan's science book by McGraw Hill has gorgeous pictures by National Geographic. Her Social Studies book looks awesome too and she wants to start it this week. That's fine since the book she is using this year doesn't seem to give her enough information.
Tomorrow we have sign language in the morning and our coop in the afternoon. Thursdays are always busy for us. Busy fulfilling days!
