Homeschool Art Co-op

Enough posts about bargain shopping. Back to the fun stuff of homeschooling. Monday is art class and when we arrived at Jen's house today she had all of the kids artwork from last week hung up in her kitchen. Last week the kids worked on lines. They did a great job painting these pictures.

This was Morgan's geometric painting with squiggly and straight lines.
And Patrick's abstract colorful painting.

Last week at Art Class we had a local reporter come to take pictures of the kids. My Morgan was featured in the article. It was a nice article and positive plug for homeschooling. We're going to send one of the articles to her grandfather.

Here's Tae working on some artwork.

This week the kids had to do their own interpretation of Van Gogh's Starry Night picture. Except they had to put an animal in the picture. Patrick decided to do a mythical creature and then added some color to it. Next week they will get large paper and oil crayons to complete their version.

Morgan did a Pheonix like creature with moon and stars.

Tomorrow we are off to visit the Johnson and Wales Culinary Museum http://www.culinary.org/ and then some friends for a playground date.
On Tuesday the 31st we have another field trip to Coggeshall Farm. http://www.coggeshallfarm.org/
Coggeshall Farm is a working 1790's farm that is set on 48 acres. The kids are going to mainly see the Maple Sugaring process but I'm sure they'll have a blast watching the farm animals and old farm equipment. It's so nice that we can get out now that the weather is good.
And dinner tonight is Corned Beef, cabbage, potatoes, and carrots and brownies for dessert. We are having our St. Patrick's Day dinner tonight! No green beer though.

I've been thinking of joining a local co-op and this has inspired me to take that first step. I love the pictures and the artwork. Congrats on your daughter making the paper!

Go for it. Co-ops can be a great addition to homeschooling and making friends.
